Offshore cranes (such as ship cranes and offshore platform cranes) are core equipment in the field of marine engineering (marine engineering), responsible for the lifting and transportation of heavy goods, equipment and even personnel. Main application areas and features

The integrated high current slip ring is usually installed at the slewing center of the crane, serving as the electrical connection hub between the fixed base (hull or platform structure) and the rotating upper vehicle (slewing platform). It specifically serves the following key systems and equipment on the slewing platform:

 

Main drive motor and winch system:

Features of the part: This is the "heart" and "muscle" of the crane. The main hoisting, luffing (pitch), and slewing mechanisms are usually driven by high-power AC or DC motors (power can reach hundreds of kilowatts or even megawatts). The winch system includes large drums, brakes, etc.

Current demand: Extremely high. The main hoisting and luffing motors need to transmit hundreds of amperes or even thousands of amperes of high current (voltage is usually 400V, 690V AC or higher) when starting, accelerating, and running at full load.

Function of slip ring: Provide a stable, low-loss, large-capacity power transmission channel for core power equipment to ensure strong lifting capacity and precise speed control

 

Auxiliary power equipment:

Features of parts: Including hydraulic station motor (providing power for hydraulic system), cooling fan motor, air conditioner/heater (for equipment cabin environment control), lighting system (high-power work lamp), etc.

Current demand: Medium to high current. Although the power of a single device may be lower than that of the main motor, the total amount is considerable, and most of them are inductive loads (motors) with large starting current. The hydraulic station motor is particularly important and has great power.

Function of slip ring: Provide continuous power for these auxiliary equipment that ensure the normal operation of the crane and the environmental requirements of personnel/equipment.

 

Control system and signal transmission:

Part features: including cab operating console, PLC controller, various sensors (angle, load, wind speed, position, temperature, pressure, etc.), limit switches, cameras, communication equipment (intercom, data transmission).

Current demand: relatively small, but the number of channels is large and the signal type is complex. It is necessary to transmit analog quantity (4-20mA, 0-10V), digital quantity (switch quantity), bus signal (CAN, Profibus, Ethernet), video signal, etc. The signal integrity and anti-interference requirements are extremely high.

Slip ring function: Provide multi-channel, low-noise, high-fidelity signal transmission channels to ensure accurate operation instructions, real-time monitoring of equipment status, and timely triggering of safety protection. This is the basis for the crane to achieve automation, intelligence, safe and reliable operation.
